Belum Valley is located in the northern region of Perak State is bristling with fauna and flora, a rich national heritage.

This remote area of Perak was once the battlefield between the Malaysian security forces and the communist bandits. Known as the Bamboo Trail, an infiltration route for the communist terrorists into Malaysia, the trail passes through secondary forest, bamboo forest and lowland primary jungles.

Virtually untouched by mankind and with the lifting of the curfew in 1991, Belum is slowly exposing it's well kept secrets to the outside world. This last frontier of Malaysia beckons the adventurous to its everlasting charm.

The main activity available is trekking and fishing as the area is part of the Temenggor Dam or also known as Banding Lake.

BELUM FOREST ADVENTURE
4 DAYS/ 2 NITES

Please request by email for new TRIP itinerary as there have been re-routed to make the trip less strenuous and more interesting. The itinerary below is no more applicable as the route requires a lot of hill climbing while backpacking... The new itinerary will be replaced soon.

DAY 1 KUALA LUMPUR

Meet at Swiss Hotel lobby and leave Kuala Lumpur at 9.00pm for Banding Island. Refreshment enroute at own expenses.

DAY 2 BELUM (Lunch, Dinner)

Arrive in Banding Island and take a 2 hrs boat ride to Post Chiong. Proceed to hike 3-4 hrs to Terhong Cascades. Arrive and set up base camp. Help prepare lunch and afternoon enjoy the cool waters of the Sara River. Dinner in the evening.

DAY 3 BELUM (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

After breakfast, prepare to hike 2 hrs up to the 1961 Kuala Cerendong helicopter crash site. Pack lunch provided. Spend the afternoon beside Sg. Cerendong before trekking back to campsite. Dinner in the evening.

DAY 4 KUALA LUMPUR (Breakfast, Lunch)

After breakfast, break camp and trek back to Post Chiong. Enroute visit a saltlick. Stop for lunch before departing by boat back to Banding Island enroute back to Kuala Lumpur.
