Robber Crab

Did you hear about the crab that climbs trees at night to steal coconuts? It's no joke. f you visit christmas Island in the Indian Ocean, or some other south-west pacific and Indian Ocean Islands, you can see the robber crab in action.
These are the largest land crabs and grow up to two feet (60 centimeters) or more from head to tail. It sneaks out of its burrow at night, climbs the trunks of coconut palms or other fruit trees, and snips off the coconuts and fruits with its two enormous pincers. Then, it pounds the coconut with its two gigantic pincers until it cracks it open.

Did you know?

The Robber crab has become so adapted to living on the land that it will drown if it submerged in water for more than a few minutes.

The world's largest crab land has a leg span of over six feet. It lives in the deep ocean and never comes to the surface.

Robber crabs steal cooking utilies and cultery from campsites.One was even seen dragging a camp stove into the bush, while another was found pulling a whiskey bottle behind it.
