Sibu
archipelago has almost the same magical charm & brilliance. The island
chain consists of Sibu Besar Island, Sibu Tengah Island, Sibu Hujung
Island, Sibu Kukus, Lima Island, Mentinggi Island & Tinggi Island. While
Sibu besar & tinggi are home to fishing communities, the other islands are
uninhabited except for Sibu Tengah, the home or rather sanctuary for 100
employees & some 200 holiday seekers at full-house at the resort.
On
the way back from Sibu Island, make a stop at Sibu Besar Island to absorb
the picturesque view of the serene kampung Duku, home to abt 200
villagers. Witness the time-tested method on making copra or the
handicraft-making From coconut waste.
Sibu island is a dream island waiting to be explored fringed by beautiful
corals and white sandy beaches, this is the ultimate paradise for the
traveler seeking solitude.
Driving to Tanjung leman
from the east coast is the easiest. For westerners, the journey is quite
tricky as roads are not well-marked. The most popular route is through the
north-south expressway & then up to Tanjung leman. This takes some five to
six hours from Kuala Lumpur. There are 2 express buses to Mersing leaving
at night. Mersing is the nearest accessible town with easy public
transportation. From Mersing are taxis or local buses to Tanjung Leman.
There are express buses to Kluang or Johor Bahru. By train, the nearest
station is in Kluang.
