Sibu Island is one of
Malaysia’s unspoiled islands off the Peninsula’s East Coast, facing
the South China Sea. Approximately 6 km long and 1km wide, the island
abounds with lush tropical vegetation, and is noted for its beaches,
hills, cliffs and exotic bird population.
On the Southern end there is a small fishing village with a population
of less than a hundred people. Facing Pulau Sibu on the west is the
majestic Pulau Tinggi and a few smaller uninhabited islands.
Almost untouched
by progress, Sibu Island is the perfect hideaway from the rat of city
life
There are two types of
bungalows accommodation at the resort, all with a sea view. The
Cabanas Chalets are semi-detached air-conditioned bungalows, whilst
the LaBamba Chalets are single unit Malay Style thatched bungalows
with large verandah and overhead fans.
Both types
are furnished with king-size beds with an extra single bed. Bathroom
are en-suite for all chalets. Top sheets, soap and towels are also
provided.
The main activities on
the island are snorkelling and diving. However one can take walks in
the jungle to the fishing village or to the other resorts. There are
pathways to most of these places.
At the resort, indoor activities such as table and board games are
provided. A mini library is also available.
Outdoors, one can go canoeing, ride the banana boat, play badminton
and beach volleyball. Fishing trips are regularly organized for the
avid fishermen.
Boat trips
to the other islands can be arranged at the resort.
