Life: A Visit to Ulu Ai (Ex-Kuching)

Day
1
-
Depart
by air-conditioned coach for Batang Ai reservoir (4-5
hours). Journey through rural Sarawak, passing pepper
gardens, cocoa and rubber plantations along the way. Lunch
enroute. Upon arrival
at the Batang Ai reservoir, proceed by longboat (1 1/2
hrs) upriver to Nanga Sumpa longhouse. After dinner, relax
on the ruai (common verandah) and mingle with the Iban
people. Learn about their culture and enjoy some local
rice wine. Overnight at the Borneo Adventure lodge.
Day
2
-
Following
breakfast, hike the jungle trails along the river. Then
hike or proceed by longboat to Wong Ensuluai waterfall.
Time to relax, swim, explore the rainforest and have lunch
or try fishing Iban style. Return to the lodge, where
dinner is served with local delicacies to enhance the
meal. After dinner, visit to the longhouse. Woven blankets
and handicrafts are available for display upon request and
may be purchased directly from the longhouse people.

Following
breakfast, depart down river by longboat, then board the
coach. Lunch enroute. Proceed to Kuching and transfer to
the hotel. Check in or transfer to the airport for
departure.
