Designed and built in 1939 during the reign of Sultan Ismail, Istana
Batu was used as a venue for royal weddings as well as to house
royal guest. Today, it has been converted into the Royal Museum
where an excellent regalia and collection of palace items belonging
to former Sultans are on display. |

Kelantan's Central Market is a riot of color. The place of
attraction where the stallholders, majority of them are Kelantanese
women, conduct their business amidst rows of chilies, carrots,
seafood and farm produce. Perhaps this is a throwback to the fact
that Kelantan was once ruled by a princess called Cik Siti Wan
Kembang. Kelantanese women remain fiercely entrepreneurial and known
